Edson Montero was born in Hondo Valle, Dominican Republic, which is one of the poorest  towns per capita that is along the border with the nation of Haiti. There both  his parents were teachers and looking for a better life for him and his 5 siblings they settled in San Juan de la Maguana where he grew up and was part of the Boy Scouts.  After finishing high school he moved to the capital city of Santo Domingo where he studied and trained at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) which was founded in 1598, and graduated with a BS in Social Communication with a specialization in Journalism. He immigrated to the US to Marlborough, Massachusetts in 2006 and then found himself in the heart of the commonwealth, our wonderful city that he calls home, Worcester in 2009 where in 2010 he married his wife Holly of Sutton. Both are parents of four daughters who all have and currently attend Worcester Public Schools. He has worked at Community Health Link (CHL) since 2013 as a Manager overseeing and cooking for all clients and staff both in the impatient sector on Jaques Ave. and Family Health Center on Queen St. Prior to that, since coming to the US, Edson worked ~10 years in forward facing customer service. He is multilingual, fluently speaking Spanish which is his native language, Portuguese and English. 

Edson first came to the US in 2001, and then when he came back 2006 he decided to stay, and then enrolled at Approach International Student Center in Boston-Allston MA from 2007 to 2009 while studying English as a second language (ESL). 

During his studies at UASD he was an active member of the Technical Council of the Faculty of Humanities (FELECS)  Executive and founding member of the Association of University Students of Hondo Valle (ASEUHOVA), and Executive of the Association of University Students of San Juan de la Maguana (ASEUS). He was trained in the start and specialization of Internal Taxes Courses at the Institute for Training Tax (INCAT). He was the Secretary-in-charge of Public Relations and Communications at the Foundation for Development and Environment of Hondo Valle (SODEMAHV) which provide electric energy to community out the grid, using little rivers, urban garden, school supply for a reduce income family. 

Before arriving to the US, he worked as a Coordinator for Sigma Dos in Dominican Republic, which is an international Marketing Research company. There he performed tasks that of Junior Researcher, Moderator of expert panels, qualitative interviewer, coordinator of field work, coordinator of Mystery Shopping, coordinator of focus groups, Omnibus coordination, recruitment and training of pollsters, supervisors, and coding of quantitative and qualitative materials and selection and classification of samples statistics. Prior to that he was the Control Officer at the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (Dominican IRS) from 2000 to 2002. He was the Secretary-in-charge of Public Relations and Communications at the Foundation for Development and Environment of Hondo Valle (SODEMAHV). He also was the Founder and Editor of the bi-monthly newspaper, El Montañez de Hondo Valle.

Above all, Edson is a dedicated husband and father who has a strong desire to be the voice of the people of District 5 and the city at whole and is dedicated to being the best public servant he can.
